Marinara Sauce

This is another great, basic recipe from Giada De Laurentiis’ Everyday Italian cookbook. (I checked it out of the library after I returned Lindsay’s copy!) She uses it as a base sauce for other recipes, but it is also quite yummy on it’s own. I doubled the recipe and froze the sauce in 2-cup portions.

Pizza Rolls

This has become one of our favorite lunch, snack, easy dinner items. Sooooo easy to make. Plus, they freeze really nicely – I keep a bag of them in the freezer most of the time, so we can pull a few out and pop them straight into the toaster oven when we need them.
1 loaf [...]

My sister, living the glam life in London, emailed me the following recipe this morning. Her breakfast is a far cry from the cold cheerios we are eating around here this morning! Sounds quite yummy though – perhaps we could try it as a dessert instead of breakfast?

It doesn’t sound very tasty, does it? But trust me, these “dump” chicken recipes make life sooooo much easier. And that is a sweet thing indeed.

Salad Days

Summer can be a difficult time for me, cooking-wise. I have plenty of hearty, stick to your ribs, warm you up kinds of meals. But in summer, even though I am still always hungry, I have a really hard time deciding on something I WANT to eat.
I’m not much of a salad person, but [...]

Motivation

Just to give me a little more motivation to lose weight, it now looks like there is a direct correlation between belly fat in your 40’s and a dramatically increased risk of dementia later in life. Seems even for people of normal weight, carrying fat around the belly ups the risk of dementia pretty significantly. [...]

Our first Co-Op Box!

We picked up our first organic produce box through the Savannah Co-Op today. This is such a great program, and I am so excited to have joined! It was started by a group of moms who wanted to give thier families organic food, but couldn’t afford the crazy high prices for organics in the grocery [...]
